Free Database of 50000 Trivia Questions

Main Post:

Hey everybody. So I built a Buzz box for playing trivia (You can see it here)

Anyway, a buzz box is nothing without trivia questions to go with it. I searched the internet for a trivia database but couldn't find much. Instead I found lots of websites feeding me data from their databases but nobody providing a database themselves. I found a handful of sites that offered Excel spreadsheets with question/answer columns, but alas they all wanted money. I guess the trivia business is all about those $.

I decided to scour the internet looking for Trivia. I found dozens of sites which offered all types of trivia, some in more copy/pasteable format than others, and tried my best to combine them all.

I ended up with a database of around 50000 questions + answers. I didn't actually read through all the questions, but skimming over them I saw lots of mistakes. There were many poorly worded questions, incomplete answers, the same question might be on there 5 times but just worded slightly differently, duplicates and some of the answers I found to actually be wrong.

I spent lots of time in Excel using filters to fix the formatting, remove multiple choice/trueOrFalse stuff and clean it up the best I could. With that said, this list is far from perfect but it is very usable. Ideally one could probably read through these questions and answers and make it much better, but I actually want to play trivia with these with my friends and can't spoil everything.

I have it split into 2 separate Excel files, each containing multiple spreadsheets. The first is a Family Feud style database and the second is just questions and answers. Its broken down so its ready to print. You might want to combine the columns if you're going to try and edit it

Family Feud and Trivia

Cheers, enjoy!

Top Comment: This is what shits me with amateur trivia question writers... "What Is The Most Westerly European Capital City" Answer: Lisbon In Portugal / Reykjavic In Iceland, It's Complex But I Think Iceland Has It You Decide No!!! You decide? What the hell kind of answer is that? According to Wikipedia, the coordinates of Lisbon is 38°42′50′′N 9°8′22′′W, the coordinates of Reykjavic is 64°8′0′′N, 21°56′0′′W. This means that Reykjavic is 12° further west relative the Meridian (GMT) than Lisbon is. Therefore, Reykjavic is the correct answer.

What’s the most interesting or in-depth online “quiz/test” you have ever taken?

Main Post:

I’ve recently found out that I enjoy taking “personality” quizzes based off of what people think about me. For instance, I did a 121 question quiz that determined what fictional character you were most like, and also gave 500+ other characters. The quiz consisted of 121 questions that each gave two characteristics and a slider that allowed you to say what % you were of each, and I sent each and every question to a friend and asked them to answer it based off of how I was around them personally.

So I’ve been wondering, what’s the most interesting/in-depth online quiz that you’ve taken? Was it fun? Were you surprised?

Recommendations for a Free, Adult-Friendly Online Quiz Platform?

Main Post:

Can anyone recommend a great, free online quiz platform suitable for adult students? I've tried using Kahoot!, but the layout seems more geared toward kids and teenagers. Other platforms like Wordwall, Quizlet, and Flexiquiz have free options, but they have frustratingly restrictive quiz functions that limit the number of quizzes or questions I can use. Do you have any suggestions?

Top Comment: Hi! Amazy.uk is perfect for creating quizes, gap-filling, matching tasks for your students, self-checking, easy to share and use.

Best Trivia app/website on the Internet?

Main Post:

Don't know if this has been asked for, but I haven't found a good alternative ever since QuizUp was shut down. What do you guys use for casual quizzing?

If I'm gonna waste time on my phone anyway, I'd rather do it on a quiz app than cycle through an endless tirade of YT shorts.

Top Comment: Sporcle is still the best, although it's better from a computer, or from a tablet when viewing the full desktop site. Easily over a million quizzes to choose from.

Top Comment: http://mojoupgrade.com/ NSFW! It gives you and your partner a series of scenarios that you either react positively or negatively to, and then it shows you the ones you BOTH react positively to, while hiding the ones that you dont have in common.
